The singer rarely spoke about his homeland and childhood – he was not ashamed of his past, but preferred to live in the present and not to remember what was once.
He was born on September 5, 1946 on the island of Zanzibar. His parents were Parsi by nationality – this is a nation of Iranian descent, whose representatives profess Zoroastrianism. Their name Farrukh was then very common, in translation from Farsi it meant “happy”, “lucky”, “beautiful”. He won his first victory at the age of 1 year, when his photo won the title “Photo of the Year” at a local competition.
