29 years ago, on August 15, 1990, the life of the leader of the Kino group Viktor Tsoi, who became the legend of Russian rock music, ended. His songs do not lose popularity until now, everyone knows them. But those who were devoted to the composition “Eighth grader”, “When your girlfriend is sick”, “Baby”, for many still remain a mystery. What actually connected the musician with those girls about whom he wrote his famous songs is further in the review.
Even relatives of Tsoi did not know to whom this song was dedicated, many believed that the lyrical heroine was just a fictional character. But in fact, the eighth grader really existed, but even she herself learned that she inspired the musician to create the song only after years.
Jenny Yasnets at that time was a first-year student of the Leningrad Art College. V. Serova, where she entered after the 8th grade. By entering it was prepared by the artist Andrei Medvedev, who was a friend of Tsoi. He introduced them, introducing the girl to his student, an eighth-grader. Subsequently, Jenny became a famous designer, opening her own design studio in St. Petersburg.
Years later, Jenny Yasnets recalled: “I was 15 years old, Victor – 20. And, probably, at first I seemed like a child to me, I had children’s sandals painted with tempera. And then the Eighth Grader appeared. I really liked the song, and only after many years I learned that it was about me. Andrei Medvedev told how Choi brought him a tape and said that the song is dedicated to Jenny. About the “triple in geography”, as in the lyrics, I Choi, of course, did not complain and did not call him in the cinema. Although Victor and I were friends later … I think that I had only one coincidence with the heroine of the song at the age of 15: at that time my parents demanded that I appear at home at exactly ten. And I was always late. So we got such a poetic image: an eighth-grader girl who is waiting for her mother. ”
However, many researchers of Tsoi’s work have doubts about this version. So, V. Kalgin in the book “Viktor Tsoi. The last hero of a modern myth ”claims that the musician began to communicate with Medvedev after this song was created. He is leaning towards the version of the Kino band guitarist, Alexei Rybin. He said that Tsoi wrote this composition after another romantic date with a school student Olga, a schoolgirl from yesterday, whom he met at a vocational school, where he studied as a woodcarver.
The song “When Your Girl Is Sick” was included in the last, 8th album of the Kino group, although it was written long before that. She is called one of the most lyrical compositions of Viktor Tsoi and suggest that the musician dedicated it to his beloved. However, in reality this was not so, and the author himself considered this song ironic and never took it seriously. “It has a joke and the simplest rhymes, such as“ cinema ”-“ wine ”, and nothing more,” said Tsoi.
The song was dedicated to Marina Smirnova, whom the band’s guitarist Yuri Kasparyan met at that time. She was often sick then, the young man courted her, because of which he had to give up friendly gatherings with members of the group, who, of course, were unhappy with this. Therefore, the song was riddled with light irony. Marina Smirnova said: “It was a friendly joke. People were sitting, playing guitars. I then met with Kasparyan. And often sick. Kasparyan was running around me with medicines, and Vitya couldn’t pull him out because of me. One evening Vitya jokingly began to recite phrases past the notes. They laughed and went for a walk. And the song has healed its life. This song and the role in the film “The Needle” is the only thing left for me from Viti. ”
Viktor Tsoi always had a warm attitude towards Marina Smirnova, but they were not connected by a romantic relationship. In the late 1980s. Director Rashid Nugmanov suggested that the musician play a major role in the film “The Needle”. But with the performer of the main female role, difficulties arose. The director suggested to Tsoi: “If you have someone in mind, with whom would you be
