When she died three years ago, it went almost unnoticed in the press – modern listeners hardly know her name, but her songs are probably known to everyone. Nina Dorda was one of the most popular pop singers of the 1960s, who performed the famous hits “Lilies of the Valley”, “A Song Stays with a Man”, “A Girl Cries in an Automaton”, “Well What can I Tell You About Sakhalin”, “How Steamers Escort “,” The Old Maple “. After her, many artists sang them, and she voluntarily ceded to them her place on the stage. Her childhood years were difficult – she was born in 1924, the family lived in the basement and was very financially constrained. When the war started, his father went to the front and went missing in October 1941. Nina and her mother and sister lived in evacuation in Saratov until 1945, and after that they returned to Moscow. A whole constellation of now legendary artists such as: The Who, Jefferson Airplane, Janice Joplin, Creedence Clearwater Revival, Joan Baez, Jimi Hendricks, Grateful Dead, Ravi Shankar, Carlos Santana and many others. But this is not the main thing. It’s not even that literally a year later the festival headliners Janice Joplin and Jimi Hendrix passed away. Never again managed to repeat the whole unique atmosphere of this inimitable action, which became the end of the era of “children of flowers.” How was that?
